AMED - TJA member Fatma Ablay said: "We invite all women to be the pioneers of democratic society and peace" for the march they will organise with the slogan "Women are marching for social peace and democratic solution".

The Free Women's Movement (Tevgera Jinên Azad-TJA) will organise a big march in Amed (Diyarbakır) on 31 May with the slogan "Women are marching for social peace and democratic solution". The march will start at Şemse Allak Life Park in Yenişehir district and continue to Şêx Seîd (Dağkapı) Square. Many women from Turkey and Kurdistan are expected to participate in the march, which will start at 16.00.

BUILDING A DEMOCRATIC SOCIETY

TJA member Fatma Ablay said that they decided to "increase the struggle" for the new period in their conferences and meetings. Fatma Ablay reminded the words of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan: "Society cannot be liberated without the liberation of women" and said, "It was one of the decisions of the conference to organise strong marches and to make plans for the construction of a democratic society. The march we will organise is also within the scope of the plans that emerged in this direction."

Fatma Ablay pointed out that women are adversely affected the most in times of war and conflict. Fatma Ablay emphasised that with the march they aim to raise women's voices strongly for the solution of the Kurdish issue. Fatma Ablay emphasised that during the march they will also shout for the return of the Istanbul Convention and demands for women's gains.

Fatma Ablay said: "We will also have demands for the protection of human dignity and the freedoms of peoples. Women will give a strong voice to the steps to be taken for the formation of a democratic society."

CALL TO ALL WOMEN

"Problems affecting society such as the murder of women, the development of special war policies, drugs and prostitution can only be overcome with a democratic society," she said.

Calling on all women to march on 31 May, Fatma Ablay concluded: "We will meet in Amed on 31 May for the Kurdish language, constitutional rights and the solution of the women's problem. We are expecting all women to Amed for the mother tongue, the Kurdish right to status and the recognition of our cultural rights. We call on Kurdish women, feminists and socialist women to speak out. We invite all women to be the pioneers of democratic society and peace."
