HATAY- The prosecuter does not respond to the criminal prosecution request about the doctors and guards that tortured Osmaniye T Type Prison No. 1 prisoner Ferhat Demirbaş. Attorney Mehtap Sert considers the fact that the prosecutor does not open an investigation as 'impunity policy'.
Ferhat Demirbaş, who was beaten by the guards and the prison doctor last year in Osmaniye T Type Closed Prison No. 1, filed a criminal complaint. Demirbaş's lawyer Mehtap Sert, who reacted to the lack of an investigation against the torturers for a year, evaluated this as the state's impunity policy.
Stating that he and his client filed a criminal complaint to the Osmaniye Chief Public Prosecutor's Office about the guards and prison doctor who had responsibilities regarding the torture incident, Sert stressed that the prosecutor's office did not open an investigation despite a year's notice. The doctor said that they applied to the Chamber of Physicians in Osmaniye, but they were not given any answer, said the torture in prisons is being normalized. Sert said: " I think torture is the result of the state's attitude to dissidents. The fact that the torturers aren't being investigated is a result of the policies of the government."
