MÊRDÎN - DBP Co-Chair Keskin Bayındır came together with Assyrians within the scope of Abdullah Öcalan's "Call for Peace and Democratic Society". "Mr Öcalan's philosophy offers a model of coexistence, equal, free, administrative and political model," he said.
The public meetings initiated by the Peoples' Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party and Democratic Regions Party (DBP) within the scope of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan's "Call for Peace and Democratic Society" continue.
DBP Co-Chair Keskin Bayındır, DEM Party MPs and municipality co-mayors attended the meeting held in the building of the Federation of Syriac Associations (SÜDEF).
After the opening speech of the Federation of Syriac Associations (SÜDEF) Chair Evgil Türkel in Syriac, a moment of silence was observed in memory of those who were killed during the Sayfo genocide and those who lost their lives in the struggle for freedom and democracy. Speaking afterwards, DBP Co-Chair Keskin Bayındır stated that they came together with an important agenda and said, "We commemorate those who were massacred during the Sayfo genocide as we do every 15th of June."
Stating that they have organised a "Peace and Democratic Society Meeting", Bayındır said: "It is very valuable for us to hold this meeting with the Assyrian people, one of the most ancient peoples of these lands. The root cell of all world societies was created from these lands. However, these lands have also experienced great sufferings. Sufferings such as the Seyfo genocide and the Armenian genocide were also experienced in these lands. The reason for this is that the understanding of one language, one faith and one nation played a fundamental role in these events."
'A WAY OUT FOR THE PEOPLES'
Keskin Bayındır stated that there is an opportunity to change all this today and that this is possible with the ideas of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan. Bayındır stated that Öcalan has maintained his claim of being the leader of peoples and languages without deviating for 50 years: "Mr Öcalan's ideas and his transformation of them into a system stand as a way out for Kurds, Assyrians, Armenians and all peoples in the apocalypse of the Middle East."
'ÖCALAN OFFERS A MODEL OF LIVING TOGETHER'
Bayındır emphasised the importance of Abdullah Öcalan's call and stated that the whole world supported it. Bayındır stated that the call demonstrated how to live together and emphasised the need for the peoples to fulfil their responsibilities. Pointing to the conflicts in Israel, Palestine and Iran, Bayındır said: "The whole world has certain solutions for these problems. More states, more conflict and violence. However, Mr Öcalan's philosophy offers a coexistence, equal, free, administrative and political model. We have the power to bring this perspective to every part of the Middle East. We see that there is a lot we can all do. Here we demand support from the Assyrian people. As a whole, we expect our Assyrian people to support and honour us".
The programme continued with the speech of Yüksel Mutlu, Co-spokesperson of DEM Party Peoples and Beliefs Commission, followed by the questions of the Assyrian citizens and the answers of the delegation and continued closed to the press.
