MÊRDÎN– A forest fire broke out in the Omerya Region due to sparks falling from an electricity pole.
A fire erupted in the forested area of the Omerya Region in Mardin. In the Qûde rural neighborhood of Mehsert (Ömerli) district, sparks falling from an electricity pole ignited dry grass. The flames, driven by the wind, spread into the forested area.
Local residents tried to extinguish the fire using their own means. Firefighting teams from the Fire Department and the Provincial Directorate of Forestry also joined the firefighting efforts.
Efforts to control the fire are ongoing.
