ŞIRNEX - Hundreds of people gathered in the Besta region of Şirnex (Şırnak) and held a vigil against the plunder of nature with songs they sang throughout the night. 

 

Democratic Institutions Platform started a vigil in Besta Region yesterday against the ongoing plunder of nature in the centre and districts of Şirnex. The protest organised with the slogan "No passage to ecocide, we are marching against the plunder of nature" continued until the morning. Hundreds of people kept vigil until the morning with the songs they sang around the fire they lit. Politicians participating in the vigil also sang along to the songs. 

 

The protesters rolled the cut and stacked trees off the cliff in the Kûn Hirçokê area between Çemê Têwî and Bişeyê Reş villages. The protest also showed reaction against the rangers who cut down trees.

 

 

While the slogan "Bijî Serok Apo (Long live Leader Apo)" was frequently chanted during the vigil, the area was cleaned with the sunrise. 

 

The vigil will end with a statement to be made today.
